About The Artist: Tim McCarthy 2023

While my background in Graphic Design, and Typography influences my compositional approach I am drawn to Abstract Expressionism where I can intuitively translate perceptions, experiences and thoughts into my work. The process is organic, beginning the paintings with gestural word markings and brush strokes. Layers are introduced in stages and the direction of the painting is informed and influenced by each previous mark and color resulting in a spontaneous execution that does not seek to represent concrete forms, but rather to create emotion in the observer inviting a personal connection.
